Save the Castle!

  SteamVR - January 2025

 Steam Link

  • Freely place towers and forge an unbreakable wall
  • Upgrade each of the three tower types to their ultimate potential
  • Lead your troops to victory on the front lines

  • Take over any tower you can see, and wield its weapon
  • Unleash devastation in intense VR combat
  • Launch arrows, guided missiles, fireballs, and more

Systems I built:

  • Wrote powerful map creation tools
  • Created editor tooling to quickly build, and iterate on, fun maps
  • Emphasis was given to enemy paths, creating a feeling of life-or-death war

  • Ran the marketing for Save the Castle!
  • Commissioned and directed talented artists to create a new logo and new trailer
  • Wrote and managed all social media, steam pages, public presence, etc

As well as...

  • Built the enemies, including custom pathfinding, ragdolls, animation states, etc
  • Wrote pause state, serialization, volume settings, and various other small but critical gameplay systems
  • Built an interactive main menu & VR splash screen
  • Created the tutorial level (in 48 hours!) to onboard new players in a safe environment
  • Organized and ran dozens of in-person playtests
  • Sourced and handled licensing for 3rd party assets
  • ...and much, much more

Common'Hood

  Steam - Fall 2022  /     Xbox (Gamepass) - Spring 2023

Online multiplayer sandbox mode

  • From initial prototyping to final feature release in spring 2023
  • Worked with systems like custom skin selection, finding / joining games, porting all single player story environments to multiplayer sandbox maps, etc

We had to port over 3 years of legacy single-player codebase to a multiplayer paradigm, and do it in a way that would not break the existing story mode systems.
The senior developer and I created a clean unity project to prototype our implementation, then successfully transferred those ideas to the production codebase

Other features:

  • Built a custom localization importer / exporter from scratch
  • Built user requested quality-of-life tools, ensuring seamless gameplay
  • Handled bug fixes, controller support, patches, and other small but critical tasks, to maximize a development team of 2

VR Game Jams

I'm a programmer, so I am naturally a bit weird. This means I consider spending 48 hours making a video game to be a relaxing activity
